Port of discharge
The port where cargo is unloaded from the vessel at the end of the main sea carriage. The port of discharge (POD) is named on the bill of lading and is where the ocean leg ends and the container is landed for onward transport or customs clearance. It is distinct from the final place of delivery, which may be inland beyond the port, and it is where demurrage begins to accrue on uncollected containers.
