De minimis threshold

A value limit below which imported goods enter free of duty and import taxes.

The de minimis threshold lets low-value consignments clear customs without paying duty and, in many regimes, import VAT, cutting cost and paperwork on small parcels. Limits vary widely and are set nationally or by trade bloc; the EAEU sets thresholds for duty-free imports by individuals for personal use, which have been progressively lowered.
