ATA carnet

An international customs document that lets goods be temporarily imported duty- and tax-free, then re-exported.

An ATA carnet acts as a passport for goods such as commercial samples, professional equipment and exhibition items, replacing normal import declarations and duty deposits in each member country. It is issued under the ATA Convention by national chambers of commerce, is valid for up to a year, and relies on the goods being re-exported unchanged.
